Coronavirus updates: Changes to visas and work permits in the Philippines

Due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the Philippines has enforced strict measures to limit the spread of the virus. Therefore the regular advice on visas is currently not valid until further notice.

The Philippines visa changes due to the Coronavirus

  • For the time being, no visa applications and extensions are accepted. Only the following people are allowed to enter the Philippines: Filipinos, their foreign spouse and children, with supporting documents (marriage certificate and/or birth certificate); Accredited foreign government and international organizations officials; Foreign airline crew members.
  • If you are a foreigner currently in the Philippines and your visa is about to expire, you cannot extend the visa until the quarantine is lifted. Once the ban is lifted, you have thirty days to extend your visa. Until then you can stay in the country and there won’t be any overstay fines.
